We are pleased to announce that sound artist evala has been awarded the 76th Art Encouragement Prize for New Artists, presented by the Agency for Cultural Affairs, Government of Japan. This prestigious award recognizes artists who have demonstrated outstanding achievements or pioneered new frontiers in various artistic fields. evala was selected in the Fine Arts B Division, a category encompassing architecture, design, photography, video, media art, and other emerging contemporary practices.

Reason for the Award:
In 2025, evala significantly expanded the possibilities of auditory experience through his work in two contrasting environments: the meticulously controlled space of the art museum and the open setting of outdoor architecture. In his large-scale solo exhibition “evala: Emerging Site / Disappearing Sight” at NTT InterCommunication Center [ICC], he presented a series of new installations that transformed the vast exhibition space through his unique “spatial composition,” creating an environment where the boundaries of perception dissolve. Furthermore, in “Reversible Destiny NOW! Living Body Museum in Yoro,” the performance—where sound, body, and art were organically intertwined—evoked a new scape that stirred both the memory of the site and the physical senses of the audience.
