evalaによる実験的新作サウンドインスタレーション『Sprout』を、渋谷の旧Bunkamura Studioにて 3/16(土)〜3/24(日) に限定公開します。これまで一般公開されてこなかった歴史的レコーディングスタジオ跡地にて、新しい音の可能性を探求します。

Evala’s experimental new sound installation “Sprout” will be exhibited at the former Bunkamura Studio in Shibuya from 3/16 to 3/24. This work will explore new sound possibilities at the site of a historical recording studio that has not been open to the public until now.

Statement by evala

一般にはあまり知られていないかもしれないが、Bunkamuraの地下には立派な音楽スタジオがあり、90年代よりあの歌やこの曲など数々の名曲がここで生み出されてきたミュージシャン憧れの場所であった。残念ながら、1年前に閉鎖してしまったが、今回そのスタジオ跡地で作品をつくるありがたいお話をいただき、敬意をこめて、音楽スタジオではなされてこなかった新たな実験を試みている。

作品タイトルの『Sprout』は、“発芽”という意味だが、そこには“Sp out” というSpeaker outの略語も隠れている。長きにわたる役目を終えた音楽スタジオから、生まれくる音の芽吹きを感じてもらいたい。

Perhaps not many people know that there was a brilliant recording studio in the basement of Bunkamura. A lot of famous songs have been recorded there since the 1990s, and a lot of musicians have dreamed of being there one day. Sadly, the studio closed about a year ago, but I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to create artwork for the site of the studio. With respect, I have embarked on a brand new experiment that has never been attempted in a music studio before.

The title of the artwork, ‘Sprout’, means germination, and the word also contains ‘Sp out’, an abbreviation for ‘Speaker out’. I hope you can feel the sprouts of new sound come into being from the music studio that closed its doors after decades of nurturing music.
